In accordance with our policy of being “the only one,” Akashi Gohdoh has been pursuing various technological developments. Being the first and only company in Japan to master the mass production of pure copper rotors for 3-phase induction motors is a good example. Rotors for these motors are commonly made by aluminum die casting. However, by replacing aluminum with pure copper, which is a better conductor of electricity, the motor's efficiency can be improved by as much as 2 to 3%. This is our way of contributing to the utilization of a low-carbon path for the future. With restrictions related to motor efficiency beginning to take effect around the world, the IE1 to IE4 restrictions are soon to be standard for Japan, as well.
